The Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity (AFSE) Program 2026 is now accepting applications. This fully funded fellowship is designed to empower a new generation of changemakers dedicated to advancing social equity and justice across Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and the Pacific region.

Rooted in Indigenous knowledge systems and guided by Indigenous-led principles, AFSE equips mid-career professionals with the skills, mentorship, and networks needed to tackle systemic inequalities and co-create sustainable, community-driven solutions.

The program is co-hosted by the University of Melbourne and Waipapa Taumata Rau (University of Auckland) and is ideal for individuals deeply involved in community work who want to transform bold ideas into real-world projects promoting justice and equality.

For 2026: Full Academic Year

  • Fully funded Master’s in Social Change Leadership at the University of Melbourne.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the AFSE 2026 cohort, you must:

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, or a Pacific Island nation.
  • Have 5–8 years of experience in social impact or community leadership (typically mid-career, ages 25–65), or hold a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Not be currently enrolled in any academic program as of January 2026.
  • Not currently participate in another Atlantic Fellowship program.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid passport and be available for approximately 7 weeks of travel across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Pacific Island applicants must apply for an Australian student visa.

All applications must be submitted by Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (AEST).
