Applications are now open for the Frank Ferguson Fellowship in Engineering 2026–2027 under the Ireland Fellows Programme, offering a fully funded master’s degree opportunity in Ireland for qualified Zambian engineers. This prestigious fellowship equips professionals with advanced skills, global exposure, and leadership experience to drive sustainable development in Zambia.
The program is funded by the Government of Ireland and managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia and the University of Galway, one of the world’s top 2% universities.

Who Should Apply?
Ideal candidates are Zambian engineers or professionals in related fields who have:
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Proven commitment to community development
- Strong professional experience and academic excellence
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be a Zambian citizen and resident
- Hold an engineering degree (or closely related qualification) with Merit or higher
- Have at least three years of professional experience in engineering
- Be a registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
- Meet University of Galway admission requirements and English language standards
- Be ready to begin their master’s in August 2026
- Demonstrate a commitment to Zambia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening ties with Ireland
- Select two suitable master’s programs aligned with their background and goals
Applicants cannot currently hold or begin another master’s or higher degree during the 2025–2026 academic year, and prior submission of more than one application to the Ireland Fellows Programme disqualifies eligibility.

- Master’s in Civil Engineering
- Master of Science in Energy Systems Engineering
- Master of Science in Marine and Freshwater Resources Management
- Master of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
